Learn Rush songs from Alex Lifeson himself January 28, 2008
Last month I let you know about an Atlanta startup company called iVideosongs. This online company planned to sell virtual music lessons online, featuring video downloads of guitar pros demonstrating their playing technique. iVideosongs just recently went live with their website which you can check out here. Among the featured guitar pros is Alex Lifeson. You can learn how to play Limelight, The Spirit of Radio and Tom Sawyer directly from Lerxst himself. Each downloadable video is shot in high definition with a 1280×720 resolution, is around 35-45 minutes long, and costs $9.99. Reader Lee B downloaded Limelight and reported the following:

It goes without saying that the 2008 tour news has dominated the Rush landscape in the past week. Ever since the official tour announcement last Friday the online Rush community has been engrossed in the search for where, when and how to buy the best tickets. I’ve been trying to help out the best I can; the tour section is up and running with all the various pre-sale and on-sale date information loaded in, and I’ve been adding updates to the various posts as I gather new information. I’ve also modified the news ticker at the top of the home page to display strictly tour information and nothing else. This will be in place for the next month or so. The information is updated every ten minutes and it all ties in with the data in the tour section. So whenever a date is coming up for pre-sale or on-sale, you’ll see a call-out for it in the ticker along with links for more information or to buy tickets. For the next couple of weeks, Ticketmaster will be updating its Rush pages on a daily if not hourly basis - adding new pre-sales and on-sale dates, along with other tour-related information. So rather than continuously updating posts every time Ticketmaster sneezes, I’m just going to make all the updates straight into the tour section. If there’s a significant tour-related news item (such as adding a new date or canceling one) I’ll still post about it of course. But if a show just adds a pre-sale or something, I’ll just put it into the tour section. Keep sending me any and all info you come across, you guys have all been a great help to me in trying to keep up with all the news.

It’s been an extremely exciting past few days in Rush-land. The 2008 tour dates are out and details regarding the new Snakes & Arrows Live CD should be revealed tomorrow. My guess is there’ll be a pre-order promotion via MusicToday similar to what they did with Snakes & Arrows on the 2007 leg. We may also get some news regarding the rumored live Workin’ Them Angels single. Pre-sales for select shows begin next week with regular ticket sales starting next Saturday. Here’s the ticket pre-sale/on-sale picture for the upcoming week:

UPDATE - 1/18@3:56PM: The Quebec City 400th anniversary concert will not occur in July as I’d originally thought. It will take place on the Plains of Abraham on August 22nd. Celine Dion (yippee) will headline. Currently from what I know Rush is still penciled in to appear along with Bryan Adams, Sum 41, The Tragically Hip, Nickelback and others. So if the South American dates occur in early August it looks like Rush would then head back to Canada to close out the tour in style in front of their largest crowd ever. Cool.

The Rush.com email list just sent out an email stating that the official tour dates announcement will be at 8AM. I did not receive the email yet myself and most of you probably didn’t either. Their email list seems to take forever to get out to everyone on the list. And there were a lot of problems with their last email; a bunch of people got duplicate emails while a bunch more received nothing. Luckily reader rush-tours-rule forwarded me his copy. Here’s what it says:
